The Healing Centre
The Rwandan-Canadian Healing Centre, founded in 2018 by
Kizito, is a federally registered nonprofit organization, based in
Toronto, Canada. We strive to provide an environment for
Rwandan Canadians and other members of the Canadian
society, working to overcome traumatic experiences from
genocide, wars and other catastrophes.
Our Philosophy
We believe, our society can’t move forward cohesively, while many among us carry life, and even transgenerational traumas, so to heal both transgenerational and life wounds, and to cleanse our society of toxic environments many currently experience; we believe a healing process must take place for those in marginalized communities, so we can bridge divisions, overcome self-hatred and dependency found in individual as well as society level.
Our mission is to build a Healing Centre
for all those who struggle with
Post-Traumatic Syndrome Disorder (PTSD)
and other trauma-related effects.
The Rwandan Canadian Healing Centre’s Vision
is to serve as a multi-dimensional PSTD
research Centre for the purposes of education
and social advocacy against PSTD and related effects.
Shaping Our Future
Start an initiative
We believe each of us has lessons given to them by their life challenges. Our goal is to help youths to identify those challenges, and learn to marry their lessons to individual gifs, talent and skills to help create life changing initiative for themselves and those who have similar challenges.
Network
Mentorship is an important factor in every society, but today more than ever, youths, especially those from marginalized communities are seeking mentorship support. We provide a platform for African Canadian youths who wish to learn, to access mentors in their areas of need.
Bridge Ideals for Long-term Aliances
Building a Healing Centre is our goal, but success for us means bridging hands with members of other African Canadian community, and Canadians overall, to learn and share our individual experience and meet our goals by solving our challenges through collaborations.
Build Capacity Through Collaborations
In today’s fast-moving world, having an ideal and passion isn’t enough to succeed – not when many red tapes which have existed for years, are yet to be completely removed. We aim for collaborations to build strong Capacity support for our members.

Kizito's STory
After experiencing the aftermath of the Genocide against Tutsi, in 2016 Kizito decide to share his experience to raise awareness to PSTD, by walking for 17 days from Toronto to Montreal – in winter. Upon his return from Rwanda, Kizito worked with the Rwandan Canadian community, and in 2018 RCHC was established with a mission to build a Healing Centre for all those who struggle with Post-Traumatic Syndrome Disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related effects.
